It's been a while since I last blogged, and since I've been hounding my mother to update her own blog which she did for the first time in almost 4 months, I thought it would be a bit hypocritical of me not to write something myself.
Not that I have any big news. Well, I did have another seizure - only six days after the other one! And for no apparent reason, except maybe that I was a bit tired from having pumped air into a double air mattress, but under normal circumstances that's not enough to give you a seizure. It so happened that my doctor had gone on summer holiday the same day as I called the office to ask about phone appointments, so I didn't talk to her until a couple of weeks ago. She upped my dose a tiny bit and I can't really do anything different, just keep on behaving and taking my meds on time.

Alina, my bestest German friend, has just left after a two-week stay with me here in Reykjavík. It was awesome to have her here, although I was forced to go to work during the second week (it's kinda busy at the shop this time of year, and I could really only afford one week off), while poor Alina could barely walk for three days because she hurt her toes when she accidentally kicked a step in the entrance of Karamba last weekend. Apart from that, we had a good time. We went on the Golden Circle tourist trip (see above photo, taken by Gullfoss), took my little sis to the Blue Lagoon and rubbed some white mud on our faces, barbecued hamburgers and bananas on a little disposable grill on my balcony, went to rock concerts (see other photos), saw Harry Potter 6 and Brüno at the cinema, ate out, cooked chicken and pasta, had take-out pizza, went to Vesturbæjarlaug and sat in the hot tubs for about an hour and then got some delicious ice cream
afterwards, Alina bought the coolest 66°North woolen jumper which made me green with envy (too exxxxpensive for me!), and took photos of some creepy cats in the area by the Pond. Sigrún Ugla bonded with her again, two years after they last met, when they absolutely loved each other. However, Sigrún Ugla was only 3 then and barely remembers anything from that time. She was surprised to see that Alina has a video of her jumping and shouting on her mobile phone! Actually, I was surprised, too, as it's been two years. Cute, though. The background on my mobile is a picture of Sigrún Ugla from a year and a half ago, so I guess I can't say much.
We went to Innipúkinn this weekend, the music festival that has been held on Verslunarmannahelgin (first weekend of August) for the people of Reykjavík who can't be bothered to go to the outside festivals in the countryside, and prefer having lots of fun, but sleeping in their own beds and take showers in the morning. The middle two photos we took there, and the last one we took when we had got back home on Saturday night, completely exhausted after the awesome FM Belfast concert.
In other news, I am happy because I got a bunch of money back from the Icelandic IRS, and bought myself a new dress at Spúútnik to celebrate, as well as two books and two DVDs from
Tiger (it's ok, everything at Tiger is cheap!). I bought all this without feeling any guilt. I needed a new dress, and I really wanted to buy four more books, but I resisted. There are so many books I have to read this semester, and I've already started one, but I think I will not have time to do anything but read for school from September to December. I'll probably be working every day all August, and overtime, too. It'll be exhausting but fun. I get to be the überbitch! Veeeery excited about that. Sometimes you get tired of being nice and pleasant, and who better to take the frustration out on than annoying teenagers?
Till next timea
hugs,
Book Lady (a.k.a. Gámagribban)
