Can you tell if this is the same guy? If it is, what's his name, and if it isn't, what are their names?

Pokkers...

... pronounced pokka-zz, is my favorite swear word. It's Danish for the devil('s) (I don't know if you can say that in English, but that doesn't matter). Try to say it. It's fun!
What is even more fun, is to say pokurinn (noun). It's an old Icelanic word drawn from the danish word pokker, wich, yes indeed, means devil.
People don't use that word now, but in ye olde days they used it a lot. I think. At least some (alleged) sorcerer in the book Iceland's bell (by the Nobel Prize-winning Icelandic author Halldór Laxness), which is set in the 1600's, who was in prison for doing spells (allegedly) and was to be decapitated (if I remember correcly; I read it in 10th grade - years and years ago), used it a lot. He said he was invoking the devil (pokurinn), but personally I think it was all an act - he had already been sentenced to death, so why not give people something to talk about?

Icelandic literature history quiz tomorrow.
Must.
Study.

Earth to Íris!

My friend Íris Björk told me today that sometime when she was reading blogs, she looked at mine, but didn't bother to read it! Because it's in English! I am deeeply offended!

I saw the movie Saved! on Saturday. It was so good. I wish I owned it on VHS/DVD (we got a DVD player just before Christmas!), so I could watch it whenever I wanted.

Ok, that´s almost enough!

I did two things over the weekend: sleep and read. I finished Angels & Demons at 2:15 AM on Sunday, and then I read all 220 pages og Missing 4: Sanctuary. Both very good and exciting. I can´t wait to read The Da Vinci Code (I know, I know, I´m probably the only Icelander who hasn´t read that book), because if it´s supposed to be better and more exciting than Angels & Demons... it must be reeeally good!
I rented a movie on Friday night; Eulogy. I loved it. It is such an awesome and funny movie, with a great cast. I will probably rent it again someday, and if I come across it in some store on video or DVD, I will most certainly buy it. It´s awesome. Read about it here, and see a trailer here. Please do. You won´t regret it.
I rented The Stepford Wives on Saturday. Not so good.
On Sunday night I watched, like at least half of Iceland, a documentary made by and Icelandic woman name Kristín something. It´s called How Do You Like Iceland (the immortal question all tourists are asked!) and was mostly just interviews with people, both famous and not, that have been to Iceland many times. They were asked about what they thought of the people, culture, weather, language, and just about anything that has to do with Iceland. Some answers were so hilarious that I got tears in my eyes, some were just plain stupid, but a lot of them actually were true - not just some chlichés that people that have heard of Iceland (who aren´t many) think. It was strange to hear what other people think about this country. Among the famous people was Damon Albarn, lead singer of Blur, and he actually has a house here!

Well well, my history book is waiting!

This is one of my book shelves, where I keep books that I´ve actually read, or intend to in the near future. See all the pink and bright colored books? Most of them are YA books by Meg Cabot. On the top shelf you can see my stereo and my CDs.

Eeek!

I just found out something shocking!
You see, I was on the computer, and wanted to listen to some music, so I turned on the radio, and decided to listen to FM957 for just a moment. It´s not a radio station I listen to regularly, just to be clear on that. And guess what song I hear? One of my favorite songs; I Don´t Want to Be by Gavin deGraw, also known as the theme song for One Tree Hill. Of course I was shocked; I didn´t think he was even known in Iceland! Only a few days ago I went to the music shop (I say the because there is really only one shop (a chain, that is) that dominates the music market here) and asked if they had Chariot, and the man I asked said that they didn´t. So you can imagine my surprise when I heard his song on the radio. This is actually good news for me, because if the song is getting so popular, the album will probably come to the store soon. Yay! I may even not have to order it from amazon.co.uk!

Tearing up the pea patch

Well, no not really.
I don´t know if any of you know this, but a movie is being made after the first Gossip Girl novel. At first I was thrilled when I heard of this, but then I found out that Lindsay Lohan is playing Blair Waldorf. Hello? She is so not Blair. First of all, Blair is, at least in the first book, a meanie. And she smokes, drinks, shoplifts, and is constantly thinking about having sex with her boyfriend. Personally I think that Lohan is more of a goodie-goodie (in spite of Mean Girls). Also, Blair Waldorf is a brunette, small-chested, and is supposed to look a bit like Audrey Hepburn. We all know that Lindsay Lohan is none of those things (well, she did have her hair dyed brown, but she´s still no Blair!). If you´ve read the book/s and agree with me, you should sign this petition.
Nightynight!

Crazy gal

I went a little crazy and went berserk with my digital camera. I took 'a few' pictures of myself.
Crazy, huh?
I´ve finished all 5 Gossip Girl books that I got a week ago, and I have to wait till May for the next one. I´ve started reading Angels and Demons now. It´s more than 600 pages, and in the past that has been no problem for me; I finished HP5, which is 766 pages, in less than a week. I wonder if I´ll be that quick reading this book. It started well; I fell asleep last night when I was reading in bed, and woke up at 4 AM still wearing my clothes and contacts, and hadn´t brushed my teeth. I was a little disoriented, processing this; 'Hmm... I´m still wearing my clothes, it´s 4 AM, my eyes hurt... huh, anyway, now that I´m up, I´d better get ready for school.' But soon, thankfully, I realized that school wouldn´t start until 4 hours later.
I do not recommend reading in bed unless you´re ready to go to bed, in case you accidentally fall asleep.
QotD: "If this is you, Dan, I want you to know I´m friggin ripping the hair off my body with my bare hands right now, and I´m doing it all for you, which is pretty fucking poetic if you ask me," -Vanessa, Gossip Girl 4

Aaarrrg!

Matti (10 yrs.). See the bruise on his forehead? Yeah, he got that when a TWELVE-YEAR-OLD boy KICKED him in the HEAD. That boy, although I didn´t tell her, was my Latin teacher´s son. His defence was that he wasn´t going to kick Matti, only kick some snow over his head (they and their calssmates were having a snowball fight). As if that makes it any better. He was very lucky, if the boy had hit the eye, Matti probably would have been blinded. If he had kicked only a few centimetres to the right, he would have hit the temple, which could have caused some really serious damage, e.g. paralysis and things like that. The principal said that because it was unintenional, it was a-okay. WTF!?! What if the boy actually had kicked Matti in the eye, and he would have been blinded, would he not be punished then? Because it was UN-fucking-INTENITONAL?

Help! Too much chocolate!

I´m up to my elbows in chocolates and candy that I got for Christmas. I can´t eat it all myself, but neither mom nor Björgvin will help me eat it; their new year´s resolution is to stop eating/drinking anything with sugar in it.
I came home on Sunday, and as soon as my toes had thawed (it was so cold in the airplane that my toes had turned to ice cubes) I went to the nearest bookstore and exchanged two books I got for Christmas (one I got two copies of - Lionboy 2- and the other one was the same as the book that I gave mom and Björgvin, only in Icelandic), and got 4 Gossip Girl novels for them. No. 2, 3, 4, and 6, and then I went and bought no. 5. I´ve already read no.2 and started no.3.

Nightynight!
